WHHS Award Winners at Converse

Our unit was the first to be recognized at the Converse Cadet Leadership awards ceremony in beautiful Twichell Hall after the graduation parade on Saturday morning. Tyquan Griffin, our top fitness cadet, accepted the Unit Fitness Award presented to the school with the overall highest scores in physical fitness. This is a great tribute to our cadets who worked so hard to get ready for camp. Next, Rane Hardgrave was named an Outstanding Flight Cadet - the top cadet in his flight of 16 Basic cadets. Mick Perry was named an Honor Graduate - the top 10% of the entire cadet corps, and Alex McCullough was name the Top Performer in Room Inspections and an Honor Graduate. Daniel Lee received the Commandant's Award as the top cadet at the school. It was a very good week for our hard-working cadets. They are all winners in our book. We look forward to seeing them use their skills this year as they lead 100 new freshmen.

Wade Hampton at Converse

Wade Hampton cadets were heavily involved in every facet of the leadership school experience. From Daniel Lee who served as the cadet commander to our cadets in training, we made our mark on everything good at Converse.

Views of Converse CLS 2010

From July 10th until July 17th, over 300 cadets and instructors braved hot temperatures to accomplish a jammed-packed schedule of leadership training at Converse College. For the 14th year, high school AFJROTC students polished their time management, decision making, teamwork, and leadership skills. They began at 5:30 each morning and worked through a schedule of physical training, inspections, drill practice, parade practice, academics, and athletics. Stress, attention to detail, and hard work were part of each task. But the great food, friendship, and Friday social time made it all worthwhile. The week culminated with a full military parade and an impressive awards ceremony in Twichell Hall. Nearly 1,000 attended to watch our cadets receive their honors.
