ROTC Supports Palmetto's Finest

On 26 February, Wade Hampton High School received its final evaluation from the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest team. The first person seen as they drove into the school was an ROTC cadet from the team pictured at left. Our cadets lined the driveway all the way to visitor parking. We believe that a good first impression starts any visit off on the right foot. The cadets who braved the cold to represent us were (front row, L-R) Josh Whitaker, Andrew Hooper, Daniel Lee, and Gregory Little (Back row L-R) Lexus Carr, Ashley McCullough, Rebecca Francis, Taylor Crowe, and LaChelsie Thomas) Great job by some great cadets!

Military Ball Is Huge Success

On Saturday, 20 February 2010, over 400 cadets and their guests from six JROTC units in Greenville County gathered at the Embassy Suites Hotel for our annual Military Ball. Berea High School Air Force Junior ROTC hosted the event and did a wonderful job. Our thanks to Colonel Dowis, MSgt Williams, C/Colonel Kirkpatrick, and all the SC-20022 cadets who helped put the ball together. Other units in attendance were Blue Ridge, Carolina, Greenville, Southside, and Wade Hampton. The meal was delicious, and everyone enjoyed the special ceremonies and patriotic atmosphere. Ashley McCullough delivered the invocation, and LaChelsie Thomas introduced our seniors. The Wade Hampton Ball Court included Freshman Prince, Austin Mohring and Freshman Princess, Ann-Marie Failor. Sophomore Prince and Princess were Taylor Crowe and Rebecca Francis. Juniors recognized as Prince and Princess were Lawrence McDowell and Chante Moss. The Wade hampton Ball King was Andrew Hooper, and Ashley McCullough was crowned Ball Queen. This was certainly a ball that will be long-remembered.

North Carolina Is Good For SC-954

For the second year in a row, the special teams of SC-954 have traveled to East Henderson High School to compete in the Strike Eagle Drill Meet hosted by NC-934. Lt Col Clark and MSgt Jensen have put together a format that will continue to benefit all participating units - especially Wade Hampton. With two consecutive "First Place Overall" honors, we think we belong in North Carolina. Our freshmen and sophomore cadets did a fantastic job of representing the state of South Carolina and their unit. Congratulations to MSgt Ken Clere and our hard-working cadets.
