Annual Awards Ceremony Is Impressive!

On May 24th, 42 cadets received awards - some of them multiple awards - as we ended another great year. Major Guy Palmer opened the ceremony with a "Toast to the Flag". We also took the time to thank some individuals who have helped our program grow. We presented appreciation plaques to Mr. Gilbert Scales and Major General Art Baiden, and we gave "Eye of the Eagle" awards to Mr. Dave Fudge and Colonel Bob Dill from the Times Examiner. Colonel Pittman received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Air Force for 19 years in Air Force Junior ROTC.
This was his last awards ceremony. Colonel Pittman retires on July 1st.

But the highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards to our cadets. Barry Pyle received the Lance Radford Leadership Award, and Ashleigh Sanford was presented the Distinguished Cadet Award. The six Cadets of the Year were Hunter Besancon, Sheena Galvan, Ben Norris, Emma Newell, Barry Pyle, and Ashliegh Sanford. After the awards presentation, two veterans, Major General Art Baiden and Captain Lewis Langley cut two American flag cakes with West Point sabers. It was an impressive ceremony honoring the best in our program.
