Wade Hampton "Strikes" a First in North Carolina

On Saturday, 13 December, the AFJROTC drill team from Wade Hampton ventured to Tarheel country in Hendersonville to compete as the only South Carolina team at the inaugural "Strike Eagle" drill competition. It was a great trip as the Generals won the overall event trophy plus first place finishes in Color Guard, Flight Drill, and Element Drill. We also garnered a second in individual drill and team inspection, which was especially pressure-packed since we were the first team to compete. Cadet Colonel Harper served as one of the event officials, and sophomores Kristina Bracewell and Thomas Smith commanded the teams. Will Loper and Kristina Bracewell took second place commanding and executing individual drill. We are extremely proud of the hard work by MSgt Clere and the team members who show up four mornings a week at 7:00 for practice. And we appreciate the great support from our parents who travel with the team to cheer them on.
